RID’s Commitment

Refuge In Dhamma is committed to these fundamental principles of volunteering:

  • For Dhamma and Dhamma-related objectives;
  • Able to learn Dhamma during volunteering;
  • Free to choose duties;
  • Volunteering is not compensated.

Opportunities

Children’s Chanting Class

The Children’s Chanting Class instructs kids aged 7 and older in chanting the “Long Discourse on ways to attend to mindfulness (Mahā Satipaṭṭhāna Sutta).” This particular class necessitates the highest number of volunteers due to its larger size. Volunteers have the option to assist with photography/videography, taking attendance, or offering general support.

Advanced Chanting Class

The Advanced Chanting Class instructs children in mastering the chanting of the “Long Discourse on ways to attend to mindfulness (Mahā Satipaṭṭhāna Sutta)” with the ultimate aim of creating recordings and/or participating in public performances. Volunteers have the option to assist with photography/videography, taking attendance, or providing general support.

Youth Leadership Programme

The Youth Leadership Programme educates students from Secondary 1 and beyond in Buddhist Studies, Leadership Skills, and Event Planning, aiming to cultivate future leaders capable of organizing Buddhist events. Volunteers have the opportunity to contribute to teaching, photography/videography, and/or taking attendance.

Meditation Retreats

RID will host meditation retreats at least twice a year, which involve participants staying on-site for the entire duration. Typically scheduled over weekends, from Friday evenings to Sunday evenings, volunteers are expected to stay-in for the whole retreat duration and contribute to maintaining order during the retreat, preparing the meditation hall and dining area, assisting with wake-up calls, and cleaning.

In-charge

Bhikkhu Varañāṇo will be the person in-charge of these activities and volunteer tasks.
